    Baseball Umpires

I don't know if there just hasn't been enough games played yet due to the weather or what, but I have not seen any complaints on this forum regarding baseball officaiting this spring. I myself have only been to a hand-full of games, and they have all been officiated pretty well (nobody agrees with every call). I know that basketball season was full of complaints about officials (basketball, in my opinion, would be much harder). Are the umpires at the games you have seen been pretty good as well?

The few I have seen so far have done a pretty good job. But I must admit, the ones I have seen have been mostly veterans not any newbies.

I still believe that something needs to be done about the basketball officiating though. It was the worse I have ever seen in all the years I have been around basketball.

My 2 cents. Baseball officials don't influence games that often around here. Yeah they can have a bad ball/strike zone and be very inconsistent on that, but few of the games end up with that being the deciding factor.

Another huge factor, normally few baseball teams here have enough fans to worry about the umps lol

And well, the forum hasnt gotten everybody back to complain about things yet
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

    Re: Baseball Umpires

I've been to more area HS baseball games this year than I have been to in a few years, and the officiating isn't that bad in baseball. I haven't seen too many bad calls--maybe a few disputed tags or plays at a base, but those are pure split-second judgement calls and can go either way. I've seen inconsistent strike zones, but nothing so bad that they're calling at the eyeballs/at the ankles/2ft off either side of the plate strikes.

Co-sign on the basketball officiating though--it is by far the worst of any sport played in the entire region.
